For the Love of Competition
I found my passion when I was 11 years old. How lucky is that.? I started at SyKart Indoor racing in Tigard, Oregon. The moment that green flag went up for my very first race, I knew this was going to be my thing. I took 2nd place that first year in the Junior League indoor racing and I found my “home.“ My second year of racing, we built our own kart. We called it the “Pinto”. It was 18 years old and not very fast which looking back, it forced me to be a better driver. I was determined. I raced at Pat’s Acres in Canby, Oregon. That first year of outdoor racing, I took 3rd place in the OSKCS Championship. We bought a used kart from RPG my third year and I raced my first regional race, ICP. With 44 drivers and a whole new level of competition, I set out to finish in the the top 10 for the series-- a pretty big goal for the new kid. I placed 11th in the series and it felt good! Racing has taught me how to be patient, how to communicate with a team, how to handle dissapointment and push myself to achieve more. I hit my stride in my 3rd year of racing competing at the local, regional and national level. I achieved the most dominating season record in the ICP regional series with 7 straight wins and podiumed 9 out of 10 races.
In my 6 years of racing, I am proud of my acccomplishments on and off the track.
